Give A Hoot, Don’t
Pollute
As we
progress in modern civilization our trash follow us. I’m not sure whether it is
apathy or laziness but the lack of respect to our environment is disgusting and
it is costing us dearly. Litter is not only making a disgusting mess to our
beautiful wildlife and cities, but it is also puts the health of animals and
humans at great risk. Litter that is made of organic ingredients can cause
serious water pollution in large amounts, Many animals are poisoned, trapped,
or choke in the waste we don’t properly dispose. How can these affect humans? One of the most
littered objects is a tire. According the Wikipedia, tires are illegally dumped
and these materials can find their way into water sources, contaminate our
soil, and pollute the air we breathe. When burned they emit hundreds of harmful
chemicals which not only pollute the hair but the water and soil again. In
terms of more everyday litter, cans and cups can hold rainwater, which can
prove an excellent breeding ground for mosquitos. It is currently nearly
impossible to truly eliminate and prevent littering; however, we can do our
part by recycling to help reduce these harmful effects. Honestly, every bit
helps. Recycling a can as opposed to throwing it on the floor has the potential
to harm the life of a defenseless creature. By recycling we are not only
helping the preservation of our planet but our future as well. Using recycled
items to create something new helps substantiate our future as well as cut down
on the use of fresh supply. Also! By recycling certain things such as steel, we
save as much as 60% on energy. We get to help conserve many trees by creating
paper from recycled goods. Who wouldn’t want to save trees? Is there a negative
to recycling? Some might argue that recycling wastes far too much energy. In
fact, not only does recycling require less energy to recycle an object
than it is to create it from scratch,
but all the benefits of recycling definitely make the amount of energy required
worth while. Don’t be lazy, care a little. Help recycle! Every little thing
will make a big difference.

I knew about pollution but hearing someone give a passionate outlook on it makes me want to do something about it. You were very informative on this and gave great examples that this actually does happen every day. I was surprised to find out that tires are one of the most littered objects because I have never seen that or heard of that. I liked your argument that recycling can make a difference because many of us are ignorant about it and ignore to do it. And you are absolutely right we are lazy and that’s why we don’t do it I would like to think by reading this someone might get inspired to help out more and recycle. Because you’re right by recycling we can make a huge difference and help out the animals that get affected by pollution.
